What it is

What is LactiGo?

A clear topical gel containing L-carnosine and magnesium. You rub it on the muscles you are about to use, 30 to 45 minutes before training or competing. It is made in the US, sold as a cosmetic gel, and Informed Sport certified. Australian stock ships from the Gold Coast. The plain-English explainer covers the background.

What is carnosine?

A compound made of two amino acids that your body stores in muscle. It has been studied for about 40 years, mostly in relation to high-intensity exercise. LactiGo applies it to the skin instead of relying on the body to build it from food or supplements. The Carnosine Lab publishes the research LactiGo relies on at thecarnosinelab.com.

What is in it?

Regular: water, glycerin, carnosine, magnesium sulfate, ethoxydiglycol, phenoxyethanol, xanthan gum, caprylyl glycol, sorbic acid. A pale yellow gel that dries quickly with no sticky residue. Vegan friendly; the carnosine comes from corn. No sodium bicarbonate. Nothing to swallow or inject.

Is it a medicine?

No. It is sold as a cosmetic gel. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you are pregnant, nursing, have allergies, or are under medical care, talk to your provider before using it.

Regular or Menthol?

Regular has no menthol and no scent. It is the formula sold in Australia and New Zealand, and the one on this site. Menthol contains 1.25% menthol with a peppermint scent and is sold in the US store only.

Using it

How do you apply it?

  1. Apply to clean, dry skin 30 to 45 minutes before activity.
  2. Spread it like sunscreen over the muscles you will use. Cyclists use about 5 pumps per leg.
  3. Rub in until absorbed. If you use sunscreen, put LactiGo on first and wait 30 minutes.
  4. You can also apply it after a session, to the muscles you have used. LactiGo's guidance says reapply after your post-activity shower.

Can I use it after training, not just before?

Yes. Apply it before activity to the muscles you are about to use, and again after your post-activity shower to the muscles you have used. Both are within LactiGo's published guidance.

How long does a tube last?

About a month for one person applying it to the legs before most sessions. Full-body use or daily double sessions use more. The Go Packets (10 mL) are one application each.

Can I use it every day?

Yes. You can use it every day, and more than once a day: before each session and again after your shower. There is no loading phase, and nothing builds up in the gut because nothing is swallowed.

Is there an age limit?

No set limit. LactiGo recommends parental guidance for anyone under 18.

What does it feel like?

Regular feels like a light, unscented gel that dries in a minute or two.

Price and shipping

How much is it in Australia?

A$80 for a 100 mL Regular tube. A$72 a tube if you tick Subscribe and Save, which takes 10% off and ships monthly. You manage or cancel the subscription yourself in the portal. Go Packets (10 x 10 mL) are A$80. Starter Pack A$360, Pro Pack A$720. The buyer page lists them all.

What does shipping cost?

A$10 for one tube, A$14.95 to A$26.95 for larger orders. Everything ships by Australia Post from the Gold Coast, Queensland. LactiGo quotes 2 to 6 business days after dispatch. No customs, no international freight, no currency conversion.

Does it ship to New Zealand?

Yes. Select Australia as your market at checkout. Orders ship from the same Gold Coast warehouse while the NZ store finishes rolling out.

Can I buy it in a shop or pharmacy?

Not yet. LactiGo sells direct through its Australian online store. Coaches, physios, and clubs can apply for practitioner and team pricing through the partner page.

Is A$72 a launch price?

No. A$72 is the ongoing subscription price. A$80 is the one-time price. Neither is a limited offer.

The guarantee

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes, for first-time customers who order one tube. You have two months after purchase to decide. If it is not for you, email support@lactigo.com. No form, no return, you keep the tube. LactiGo refunds the product price; the A$10 shipping is not refunded.

Does it cover two tubes or a pack?

No. Orders of two or more tubes fall under the normal 30-day return policy, which needs the product unused and unopened. So buy one tube first. Add the subscription or a pack once you know it is staying in your bag. Full policy: shop.lactigo.com/en-AU/refund-policy.

Does it cover the subscription?

The first tube, yes. If you subscribe and the first tube is not for you, email LactiGo for the refund and cancel the subscription in the portal.

Drug testing

Is LactiGo safe for drug-tested athletes?

LactiGo is Informed Sport certified. Every batch is tested for banned substances using ISO 17025 methods, and the live listing is at sport.wetestyoutrust.com. Athletes under WADA or Sport Integrity Australia rules should check the current listing before use, as they would for any product.

Is carnosine on any banned list?

No. Carnosine is a naturally occurring compound found in muscle and in meat. It is not a prohibited substance.

Comparisons

Is LactiGo the same as beta-alanine?

No. Beta-alanine is an oral supplement the body uses to build its own carnosine over several weeks of loading, and it is known for a tingling side effect. LactiGo is carnosine itself, applied to the skin before a session, with no loading phase. They are different products with different research behind them. Some athletes use both.

Is it like Deep Heat or a liniment?

No. Those products work on the skin with heat or menthol and are used for how they feel. LactiGo Regular has no heating or cooling agent. It is applied before activity, and can be applied again afterwards.

Is it a sodium bicarbonate product?

No. LactiGo contains no sodium bicarbonate and nothing is swallowed, so there is none of the gut upset bicarbonate loading is known for.
